"LOREN CASS" SELECTED FOR THE LOCARNO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
posted on 12 July 2007

"Loren Cass" has been selected to have its official International Premiere in the prestigious Filmmakers of the Present Competition at the Locarno International Film Festival, one of the oldest cinema events in the world. The festival will be held August 1st-11th in Locarno, Switzerland. "Loren Cass" is one of only two non-studio American films to be screening for the 60th anniversary of Locarno. The Filmmakers of the Present Competition is described as follows:

"Renowned for its rigorous selection, the Filmmakers of the Present Competition offers films that are radical and innovative in their approach, subject or style, that question both the complexities of contemporary life and cinema itself. With around twenty films (over 30 minutes) screening as world or international premieres, from documentary to fiction and including the most hybrid and contemporary of cinematic creations, this section opens up a fascinating space for reflexion and discovery."

"Loren Cass" will be eligible for three awards including the Golden Leopard, the Cine Cinema Special Jury Prize, and the Leopard for First Film. Each comes with a cash prize of 30,000 Swiss Francs. The screenings are open to the public and the filmmakers will be in attendance, visit the official Locarno International Film Festival website for details and tickets. Dates and times are posted in the Screenings section of our website.

"LOREN CASS" PREMIERES AT CINEVEGAS!
posted on 15 June 2007

"Loren Cass" made its U.S. Premiere last weekend to a packed house at the CineVegas International Film Festival in the Jackpot Premieres section. Check out film critic Robert Koehler's "Loren Cass" review in Variety and stay tuned for more major festival screening engagements. Here's a quick excerpt from the review:

"A starkly radical film debut of uncommon power and artistic principle, Chris Fuller's "Loren Cass" announces a genuinely original filmmaking talent who literally pulls no punches in his depiction of teen angst and racial warfare on the streets of 1997 St. Petersburg, Fla. Suffused with pessimism and an overarching sense of the loneliness of modern American life, the pic affirms a vital alternative to the usual adolescent drama, making even Larry Clark look tame by comparison. Sure to be deemed commercially toxic, the pic deserves a brave distrib that knows how to work the angles. Major fest berths are a lock." --Robert Koehler, Variety
